Description

This slightly larger Kiseto rice bowl is also well-suited for use as a matcha bowl. It brings warmth and a gentle sense of elegance not only to everyday dining but also to the setting of a tea ceremony.

Kiseto ware originates from the Mino region (Central Japan) and is characterized by its softly yellow-toned ash glaze. One of its distinctive charms lies in the subtle variations of color— pale green, ochre, and natural off-white tones blend harmoniously across the surface. The glossy glaze often features fine crackle patterns known as “Kanyu,” a natural characteristic of ceramics. With daily use, these delicate lines gradually deepen in color, allowing you to enjoy the evolving “patina” and expression that develop over time.

Ideal as a rice bowl or a small donburi, its practical size also makes it suitable for a wide range of dishes, including simmered foods with broth and soups. The understated design, rich in nuance, complements not only Japanese cuisine but also modern European lifestyles. Whether used for breakfast muesli, fresh fruit, or small servings of soup or salad, it adds a touch of quiet elegance to the everyday table.
